Here in france the most recent and famous example of how much women don’t “get off easily cause feminists go nuts” is the one of that woman who’s name is Jacqueline Sauvage. She killed her husband in 2012 after 47 years of marriage in which he beat her, violent her, raped her, generally abused her and made her life a living hell, as well as the life of the whole family. He raped their daughters, was violent toward them too, and their son killed himself the day before Jacqueline Sauvage killed his disgusting husband. It was legitimate defense as he threatened her and her daughters once again. She killed him with a shotgun, 3 bullets in his back. Finally, an end to all the suffer she endured since she was frickin’ 18 years old. You’d think after all this pain, justice would have made things right, right? Ahah, no. She is now in prison and the feminists in our country are fighting non-stop for her liberation, trial after trial. Her two advocates, two women working hand in hand together always, dedicating their life to fight for women victims of domestic abuse, are losing again and again. Even though the president himself accorded “presidential grace” to her. He bullshitted her really. It’s been 3, 4, 5, maybe more times that the judges refuse to use their fucking heart and give this woman one bloody chance for once in her life. I’m so fucking angry. Her daughters are angry. Her advocates are angry. The Femen are angry, the french feminists are angry, ppl think this is horrible, but the system is still fucked and patriarchal. They don’t care about battered women and women in general. 3 days ago Jacqueline Sauvage lost again her last trial, on the international day against domestic violence toward women, the irony! what a mess! she’s so tired and broken that she doesn’t even want to continue fighting, she’s resigned. How to not be angry against men when shit like that happen all the time to women??!! Honestly men need to fuck off

Some French feminists opened a fundraiser for her last year but I think it’s closed now.
sick-sad-world-revolution gave a really good summary of the situation but honestly it’s hard to describe how revolting the whole thing is. She grew up with a violent father. She met her husband when she was 15, was pregnant with their first daughter at 17, married him at 18. He beat her and raped her for 47 years, beat and raped their daughters. He raped every woman in the family. He also hit his son’s wife. The day her son killed himself, she took sleeping pills and was woken up the next morning by her husband beating her up and ordering her to go make him breakfast. At which point she killed him. After 47 years of hell.
She received a presidential pardon this year and then the judges refused to free her again because - wait for it - she received too much support and didn’t feel bad enough about killing her husband. They literally said she shouldn’t be freed because she didn’t feel enough guilt. For killing her husband. Who abused her in every possible way for 47 years and raped her daughters. The judges said that the popular support she received (like a petition with 400 000 signatures asking for her release) prevented her from realising that what she did was wrong, and that she shouldn’t be released as long as she “continues to portray herself as a victim.”
